Nov 2022 Mission Trip Team & Mosaic Paarl Valley Foster Mothers

I am working on getting all the details ready for our February mission trip which includes setting up a blog.  I will be leading a group of 6 ladies to South Africa Sunday, February 18th to Friday, March 1st.  We will be traveling to both Paarl Valley and Port Elizabeth and working with our partners Mosaic and Ma's for Wellington.

I believe God brought this group together for a reason and I am excited to see where God leads us while we are in South Africa.  We plan to facilitate vision board exercises, make soap and lip balm, share meals, visit, pray and just do life with our friends in South Africa.  (The photo at the top of the blog is when the Mosaic foster mothers in Paarl Valley made vision boards with our Nov 2022 mission trip team.)

We will be spending time with the Mosaic foster mothers and sharing the cards from the Hope Lives Here events that we had in 2023.  Thank you to everyone who wrote a card for me to take to SA!  

Our group is excited for our trip and we will do our best to post updates while we are in SA.

It is hard to bridge the gap between South Africa and the US.  It is hard to explain why the people we meet are so special but this film is as close as we can get without taking you to South Africa.  If you want to meet some of our amazing friends in South Africa, please take the time to watch this short film.

by Cammy Brantzeg     God's plan is always much bigger and more amazing that what I can ever imagine.  As I look back on our mission trip, I can see how God was working in the big and the small moments to create something more beautiful than I could have ever imagined before the trip. New Beginnings

by Karen Ross As we begin our long journey home, I am reflecting on how this goodbye is different from the last time I visited. My first trip to South Africa was in November of 2022. It was the beginning of something beautiful. I met so many wonderful people and began to build lasting relationships. I felt a new purpose as I walked alongside my new friends at Avodah, a Christian group of intellectually and physically challenged young adults. This time together provides them with a safe place for fellowship, a home cooked meal and an opportunity to learn and cultivate each of their God given gifts. Load Shedding

by Becky Brain When the seven of us from Hopewell arrived in Cape Town, we met Deon, a member of the Mosaic staff who kindly picked us up at the airport.  As we neared Wellington and the place that we would temporarily call home, we decided to quickly stop and say hello to the Mosaic ma's.  ("Five minutes!" said Cammy.) By the time we left (five minutes x 3!), it was dark.  We were making the brief trip to the house when I noticed that the traffic lights were not working.  "Load shedding," said Deon. "No power for the next two hours."
